Overview

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) is advancing the " Problem-Solving Oriented Training Program for Advanced Medical Personnel " that implements and puts forward an educational program whereby universities with sophisticated educational programs and technologies serve as the core to train highly competent medical doctors, dentists, nurses, and pharmacists that can provide health care services which are based on scientific backing to counter issues that our country faces in the medical field.

Background

When the conquering of diseases serves as the backdrop for the realization of a society of good health and longevity, lack of advanced and specialized medical practitioners, as well as the increase in diverse medical needs sought by the society are raised as issues confronting medical doctors. As a measure to counter these issues, the training of doctors that are equipped with both cross sectional diagnostic capabilities and management competencies, especially in the area where a high level of knowledge and skills are required, is an urgent matter.

Our position

Our university has applied for Project for Fostering of Cross-Sectional Endoscopic Surgery Specialistst to train doctors so that they can acquire the skills to perform highly complex operational procedures (transplantation medicine). Furthermore, our intention is to nurture advanced medical personnel that are equipped with broad knowledge, skills and medical cases, which became necessary from the centralization and networking between universities. The need has been due to issues of complex surgical procedures resulting from our response to the increase in the numbers of transplant operations under brain death which owes to the revision in Act on Organ Transplantation. We have been selected, and the following conditions have been applied:
